  Essential Tools for Positive Growth
STEP assessment reports, coupled with professional development, provide a plan to help teachers improve their teaching. Working together, consultants and teachers share and analyze classroom-based information with a focus on identifying strategies for instruction. Each of the following courses focuses on an area of student need and answers the question, “What should I do differently?”
Foundations of Data-Driven Goal Setting: This session will address the rationale behind the premise “assessment drives instruction,” the process of operational change, and guidelines on how data is used for instructional decision-making. Participants will write goals, discuss the necessary procedures to implement various types of goals, and interpret data for implementation at various levels.
Data-Driven Decisions: Participants will use current student performance data from school, district, and state assessments to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the student, class, grade, and school. Goals will be established based upon weaknesses and written goals will be evaluated to determine completeness and feasibility.
Data-Driven Decisions by Grade Level: Grade level teams will meet with a facilitator to review and analyze the results from various forms of assessment. Once classroom and grade level strengths and weaknesses are identified, goal and intervention strategies will be established.
